Smash the Steelers!

The New York Jets are on a roll, with a chance tomorrow to get back to pro football’s ultimate game for the first time in 42 years.

They take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship — the second straight year Gang Green has made the conference title game.

To get here, they’ve had to beat the best. Two weeks ago, they got by one Super Bowl-winning quarterback in the Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning.

Last week, they knocked off pretty-boy QB Tom Brady and the three-time champ New England Patriots.

In head coach Rex Ryan, the Jets have a character who’s boastful and brash — but someone who’s also inspired his team to a remarkable 4-1 playoff record (all on the road) over the last two seasons.

With Mark Sanchez, LaDainian Tomlinson, Santonio Holmes, Darrelle Revis and the rest of his motley crew, Ryan’s close to taking the team somewhere it hasn’t been since Super Bowl III.

The only thing standing in the way is another former champion quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger — whom they defeated on the same Heinz Field one month ago.

Signs are looking darn good.

J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets!
