A case-by-Casey basis: Was the jury right?

Our justice system does not work, and shame on those who say it did in the Casey Anthony case (“The Jury Has Spoken,” Editorial, July 6).

That toddler did not kill herself and then duct-tape her mouth and throw herself in the swamp.

The jury claimed the prosecution didn’t show evidence of a crime. How could they possibly do that when the body was rotting for months?

Jurors continuously fail to use any common sense and should be replaced by computers.

Now the mainstream media have been proved wrong twice within one week. They said Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Casey Anthony were as good as convicted.

It’s been said that news tends to come in threes. Dare I hope that the MSM’s assertion that President Obama cannot be defeated by a candidate selected from an “inferior” GOP field will make them zero for three?

The Casey Anthony jury reminds me of the one that is featured in one of my favorite Three Stooges episodes, “Disorder in the Court.”

Anthony’s “not guilty” verdict cements my case for professional jurors.

The evidence is becoming more clear that there are people who should not vote or serve on juries.

What’s happened to our judicial system in this nation is a crime.

Maybe the Casey Anthony verdict is as shocking as the verdict in O.J. Simpson’s case, but the real similarity is that neither prosecutor proved the case against the defendants beyond a reasonable doubt.

Without that, the jury has to let the defendant walk.

Videos of this reprobate mother dancing and partying while her little girl was missing make her out to be a callous woman. They don’t prove that she is a murderer.

That was the prosecutor’s job, and he failed miserably.

Two juries, 3,000 miles apart, both came to verdicts that seemingly originated on another planet and defy all of the evidence presented.

When will we begin to use appropriately educated and trained professional jurors and take justice out of the hands of our peers? They do such a lousy job.

Way to go, American justice.

There was no reason to convict a young, stupid mother of murder without absolute proof.

The prosecution was a bloodthirsty, Soviet-style murder machine. If it had originally pursued death by less than intentional murder, the outcome probably would have been different and real justice would have prevailed.

The American system of justice is in contempt — a kangaroo court with a kangaroo judge in a corrupt system meant only to grind up the meat of innocent and guilty alike.

From what I saw on TV, I believe Anthony is guilty. Not only is she an incompetent mother, she is also a liar.

What goes around comes around, so Anthony will have her day. It always comes back to haunt you.

I cannot believe the jury said “not guilty.”

It’s just another sad day when a jury lets a killer walk free.

This woman is as guilty as sin.

Who speaks for this child? Apparently not the jurors in Florida.

There are photos of Anthony dancing, getting a tattoo and partying while her daughter was missing. In Florida, this means you’re innocent.

Shame on the jurors.
