Dolly Parton lands highest chart debut with new album

Time does a lady well. Legendary recording artist Dolly Parton has notched her highest-charting solo album ever with her latest release, “Blue Smoke.”

The album — her 42nd — debuts at No. 6 on the overall Billboard 200 chart and at No. 2 on the country chart, according to her team.

Despite her long, respected career, this is only the second time she’s had an album in the Billboard 200’s Top 10. The other was “Trio,” which she released alongside Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt in 1987 and included their version of “To Know Him Is To Love Him.”

It seems that even at 68, the country crooner is taking her own advice. “You’ll never do a whole lot,” she tweeted earlier this month, “unless you’re brave enough to try!”
