Dems target 3 NY House GOPers

WASHINGTON — Buoyed by last week’s Supreme Court ruling upholding ObamaCare, congressional Democrats yesterday launched an attack on Republicans, including three New Yorkers, for opposing the law.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee began automated calls to voters yesterday, targeting 10 Republicans who have opposed the law and whom they consider vulnerable in November.

The three New York GOPers are Reps. Nan Hayworth of Goshen, Ann Marie Buerkle of Syracuse and Chris Gibson of Glens Falls.

Hayworth campaign manager Bruce Harvie said his boss, a doctor, is up for the debate.

“Nan has never been shy about her opposition to the president’s health-care plan,” Harvie said.

“If Democrats want to tell everyone she’s opposed to it, we welcome it.”

The Democratic phone campaign is part of what the DCCC is calling the “Drive for 25,” its target to capture 25 seats in November to retake control of the House.

“Democrats are on offense as we expose these House Republicans for standing up for insurance companies and congressional perks instead of protecting consumers,” said Rep. Steve Israel (D-LI), who serves as DCCC chairman.

The Republican National Congressional Committee launched its own ads on the issue yesterday in California, where it is targeting three Democrats for supporting the law. The RNCC is telling voters the law hurts seniors.
