Tom forbade Katie from being in ‘Dawson’s Creek’ reunion

Tom Cruise controlled Katie Holmes career and forbade her from doing a “Dawson’s Creek” reunion movie, according to a new report.

“[Producers] were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie,” according to a source quoted by Us Weekly. “Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad.”

A reunion of the show — which ran from 1998 to 2003, and featured Holmes as the girl-next-door character Joey Potter — would have included former co-stars James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson.

In a November 2011 “Good Morning America” chat, Holmes said the reunion, “would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories.”

Cruise allegedly hates the prime-time teen soap “Dawson’s Creek,” while Holmes reportedly still yearns for those happier days.

“[She] didn’t care how ‘low-brow’ he thinks ‘Dawson’s Creek’ is,” according to US Weekly’s insider.

“She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun — something she rarely does anymore.”

The hyper-controlling hubby also torpedoed any potential Holmes projects with “sexually compromising scenes, largely because the Scientology folks objected,” according to the US source.

“Katie wants her life back,” the insider added.

Yesterday, Holmes emerged from four days of seclusion in her Chelsea pad — her first public appearance since filing for divorce from Cruise — surrounded by a pack of beefy security guards.

She flexed the heavy muscle amid fears she’s being stalked by Scientology officials because of her bombshell split from church member Cruise — and concerns he might try to kidnap their daughter, Suri, 6, The Post reported.

Cruise turned 50 today. He boarded a private jet at the Reykjavik airport early this morning in Iceland, where he was filming his next flick “Oblivion,” and took off for California where he’ll meet with his lawyers, Us reported.

Holmes wore a blue button-down, long-sleeved dress but was missing a key accessory — her wedding ring.

She smiled faintly and cast her eyes down as she exited a black Mercedes-Benz sedan with Florida plates in front of 66 Seventh Ave. in Chelsea at about 9 a.m.

She was there for a scheduled appearance on the reality-TV show “Project Runway: All Stars.”

Flanked by her crew of rent-a-cops, Holmes walked into Parsons The New School for Design, where the Lifetime show tapes.

A judge on the show, Isaac Mizrahi, later said Holmes, 33, did a bang-up job despite her turmoil.

“She did great,” he told People.

Another source added, “She was engaged, articulate and wonderful.”

Hours later, Holmes was spotted entering a Fifth Avenue office building. She arrived back at the $12,500-a-month Chelsea apartment she’s renting for her and Suri at 3:25 p.m.

A swarm of media followed her into the basement parking garage, where she stayed in the Benz’s back seat. Cops showed up 25 minutes later and ordered the paparazzi out.

The actress’ security detail came as pals dished more disturbing details about her hubby, who is in Iceland filming the movie “Oblivion.”

“She felt like she was in ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ ” a source told US magazine, referring to the 1968 horror movie in which Mia Farrow plays a woman impregnated by Satan with the help of a cult.

The sources said Cruise asked Holmes to fly to Iceland for a birthday bash he was throwing for himself today — when he turns 50 — but that she turned him down.

“He begged her to come to Iceland . . . for one last try at reconciliation,” one source said. She refused, and a “huge fight ensued,” US reported.

Holmes claimed in court papers that the marriage was “irretrievably” broken at least six months ago. She also said the couple had been New York residents for “at least two years,” which could give her more leverage in a custody battle, TMZ reported.

Holmes had quit going to her three-times-a-week Scientology classes at least 18 months ago. And about a month ago, she ditched her chaperone — Cruise’s sister, Lee Anne DeVette. She also rehired the publicist she had before she and Cruise hooked up.

Just before she filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday, Holmes fired many of her handlers — Scientologists, whom she considered “spies.”

The couple had bitterly feuded over how to raise Suri.

“Tom didn’t follow a sleep schedule for her. He let her eat ice cream for dinner and was all-around overindulgent. They fought viciously over this because Katie struggled to be a disciplinarian,” a pal told US.

Holmes feared Cruise was ready to ship Suri off to extraterrestrial-obsessed Scientology’s hard-core elite Sea Organization indoctrination camp.

Cruise’s desire to send Suri to Sea Org, as it’s known in Scientology, was the last straw for Holmes, TMZ reported, adding kids as young as 5 can be sent there without their parents.

The Web site said Holmes has “firsthand knowledge” of Sea Org.

When she and Cruise became an item in 2005, Jessica Feshbach, a prominent Scientologist who had been with Sea Org since 1994, became Katie’s assistant/chaperone. Feshback has been described as “cold-eyed.’’

Katie also fought with the two kids Cruise adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, sources told US. Yesterday, Cruise’s Scientology-educated son, Connor, 17, tweeted: “#La Familia Always. Friends Come And Go, But Family Is Forever.”

The situation came to a head late last week as Holmes’ father, Ohio lawyer Martin Holmes, flew into New York and took charge, sources told People magazine. “He was worried about his daughter,” a source told the mag.

“Katie went from this beautiful, happy face to this sullen, sad face, and she got sadder and sadder.”
