Brooklyn fire kills elderly woman, injures husband

A fire ripped through a Brooklyn apartment early this morning, killing an elderly woman and injuring her husband and two firefighters, cops said.

Over 60 firefighters battled the hour-long blaze on the second floor of the Venice Hall building on Brighton Seventh Street near Brightwater Court in Brighton Beach, authorities said.

The victim was identified by police as Feyga Geyman,82, who was severely burned and pronounced dead at the scene at around 2:40 a.m., authorities said.

Her husband was recovering from burns to his hands at Staten Island University Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Two firefighters were sent to Lutheran Hospital for minor injuries, cops said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
