Carrión snags Indie backing

Former Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión won the Independence Party’s endorsement and ballot line for mayor last night — but his candidacy ignited blowback from the White House.

Carrión, a Democrat who recently switched his affiliation to Independent and is seeking GOP backing, worked for the Obama administration until last year, at one time heading the Office of Urban Affairs.

But Carrión received poor grades yesterday from Team Obama, a White House insider said.

“I can confirm that he wasn’t respected in the administration. He was generally seen as ineffective,” the source said. “Adolfo’s candidacy isn’t going anywhere.”

Carrión is the first mayoral hopeful to land a ballot line.
