Ex-Raven Ray Lewis flies to ESPN gig

Retired NFL star Ray Lewis is joining ESPN as an analyst, network president John Skipper confirmed yesterday.

Lewis, who retired after last month’s Super Bowl — in which his Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers — will appear on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” and on Sunday’s “NFL Countdown” and “SportsCenter,” according to multiple reports.

ESPN is expected to officially announce the Lewis hiring in the next two weeks, according to si.com.

Lewis, 37, was infamously involved in a fight in January 2000 outside of a nightclub in Atlanta in which two men were murdered. He was indicted on charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Under a plea agreement, Lewis pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and agreed to testify against two other defendants.

Lewis was sentenced to 12 months probation.
