One ‘L’ of a late-night crowd

For Williamsburg hipsters, rush hour comes at 1 a.m.

The Bedford Avenue L-train subway stop, the epicenter of the hip Brooklyn, is as crowded in the wee hours of the weekend as it is during a Monday- morning rush, according to a study.

“People are going to bars and restaurants there and staying late,” said study author Carson Qing, a research assistant at the NYU Rudin Center for Transportation.

The study, which used MTA data, examined the number of entrances and exits from one turnstile for a week during August.

Only slightly fewer people were using the stations on weekend late nights than during the weekday morning rush.

Qing suggested the MTA consider adding more trains. The agency is studying the issue.
