Yankees’ A-Rod spotted for first time since PED scandal

Alex Rodriguez was spotted leaving an Upper West Side restaurant yesterday for the first time since his name was linked to Biogenesis, the now shuttered anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables, Fla.

As his teammates work out in Tampa during the first full week of spring training for position players, the Yankees third baseman remains in Manhattan rehabbing his left hip following surgery last month.

Rodriguez, 37, is expected to be out until after the All-Star break and the Yankees are prepared for the possibility he will miss the entire 2013 season. During the offseason, they signed former Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis to fill in at third base in A-Rod’s absence.

There’s also a chance Rodriguez could be suspended for his involvement with Biogenesis. According to a report last month by Miami New Times, Rodriguez and several other major leaguers, including Melky Cabrera and Ryan Braun, allegedly purchased performance-enhancing drugs from the clinic.

Through a spokesman, Rodriguez has denied any relationship with the clinic and its founder Anthony Bosch.
