Let’s go mutts!

The Westminster Dog Show is barking up the wrong tree: In the New York metro area, at least, the top dog is a mutt!

So says the latest licensing bureau report, which last month declared mixed breeds the city’s No. 1 pooch — though you won’t see any mutts on the Westminster stands tonight. When we asked Post readers to send us snaps of their hybrids, the response was overwhelming. We received hundreds of photos of schnoodles and goldendoodles, cockapoos and cavachons, plus dazzling variations on pit bulls, Chihuahuas and everything in between.

“I couldn’t love this idea more!” writes Post reader Ally Welsh. “There are so many rescue dogs and beautiful crossbreeds that deserve the love and attention as much as those pedigrees!”

Amen. We only wish we had room to showcase every one of them. Here are but a dozen or so of the city’s top underdogs. Mixed breeds all — either by accident or design — they’ve proven themselves pure of heart.
