Yankees prez dog ‘like Derek Jeter’

He’s definitely a rookie with potential.

Mitch, a 5-year-old yellow labrador retriever, failed to get a hit in his Best in Breed debut at the Westminster Dog show, but for proud owner Randy Levine he really stepped up to the plate.

Levine knows how to spot a champ — he’s the president of the Yankees baseball team.

Levine, was thrilled with Mitch’s performance and thought he handled it like a seasoned veteran.

“I say he’s like Derek Jeter because he is calm and consistent and let’s the moment come to him,” said a beaming Levine as he hugged Mitch outside the show ring at Pier 94 on West 55th Street.

“I’m just so proud of him. He played his first game very well.”

Like the Yankees, Levine said he was looking forward to a championship next season.

The Best in Breed winner was Frakari’s Kool As Kiefer, who competed last night in the Sporting Group event at Madison Square Garden.
