Plans for cold Supe

Super Bowl Saturday?

The NFL is so concerned about a winter storm ruining next year’s Super Bowl at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium that it has a contingency plan to move it to another Sunday or even a Saturday, according to Sports Business Daily.

The game, set for Feb. 2, 2014, will be the first scheduled for an open-air stadium in the Northeast.

“We have to look at all the angles: storm arriving day of game, storm arriving prior to game, storm arriving after game,” a source said.

If the game is rescheduled, even moved up a day to Feb. 1, it would create travel problems for ticket-holders. And it would be worse if a storm closes airports or curtails flights.

“When you have . . . large crowds, you are moving on transportation systems already overloaded with daily commuters, so you’ve got some issues to deal with,” said NFL security VP Jeff Miller.
