Shouldn’t happen to a dog: Subway brawler kicks police K-9 in face, breaking animal’s teeth

An NYPD police dog was kicked in the face during a brawl today in a midtown subway station, police said.

The 6-year-old German Shepherd named Bear suffered four broken teeth and a cut to his tongue when he tried to help an officer break up the fight in the 59th Street and Lexington Avenue station at around 11:15 a.m.

While breaking up the fight an officer was trying to handcuff Ravenia Matos-Davis, 22, who cracked the German shepard in the teeth and snout.

“Bear kept the woman’s foot in his mouth, and held on until I could handcuff her,” officer Vincent Tieniber said.

The officer suffered a sprained wrist in the ruckus.

Bear was treated at an animal care facility and released later in the day.

The dog will have two if his teeth capped and is expected to return to full duty.

Matos-Davis was charged with injuring a police animal, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
