Robert De Niro plots ‘Private’ series

Robert De Niro’s Tribeca productions is developing a television series with bestselling writer James Patterson.

Private” follows the exploits of former CIA agent Jack Morgan, who runs the world’s most elite investigation firm.

Morgan’s team is scattered around the world and uses advanced forensic tools to solve cases that involve the secrets of the most influential people in the world.

The show doesn’t yet have a network home. Its first two episodes have been written by John McLaughlin, who did the screenplay for the Natalie Portman ballet drama “Black Swan.”

Like many film producers, De Niro and his partner, Jane Rosenthal, have been developing a presence on television in recent years.

Last season, they had a midseason replacement, “NYC 22,” on CBS. Their next series, an adaptation of the Hugh Grant film “About a Boy,” will debut midseason on NBC.
