If there was any doubt that “Game of Thrones” is still HBO’s premier show, one need only look at the promotional push for the show’s upcoming fourth season.
Before Sunday night’s episode of “True Detective,” the network unveiled the third major promo (following a first trailer last month, and last week’s 15 minute season preview) for the small-screen adaptations of George R. R. Martin’s beloved fantasy series, “A Song of Ice and Fire.”
The “Vengeance” video promises all the medieval sex and gore that fans have come to expect and offers a glimpse of what’s to come. The latest slate of episodes will cover the second half of “A Storm of Swords,” the third of Martin’s books.
While all the still-living fan favorites can be seen, it’s Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen’s quest for revenge that gets the spotlight here.
“I will do what queens do. I will rule,” she states emphatically as the trailer comes to a close.
The fourth season of “Game of Thrones” premieres April 6.
