Former Knicks guard Baron says alien abduction story was ‘a joke,’ plans to return to NBA this season

He was just kidding … obviously.

Baron Davis laughed off “The Champs” podcast he did last week with comedians Neal Brennan and Moshe Kaster when he told a story about being abducted by aliens on his way from Las Vegas to Los Angeles that he repeatedly insisted was true.

“I mean, you go on a podcast with two comedians, two funny guys and it’s like, ‘Hey, I need to come with like a funny story’,” Davis told Alan Hahn during an interview on MSG Network.

“Not thinking I was that important to the world, not even knowing that alien abductions are important to the world, just kind of making a joke.”

Davis was back in Vegas, still alien-free, to take in a Knicks’ summer league game and said he wants to return to the NBA this season. He last played during the 2012 playoffs for the Knicks, but he injured his knee and sat out all of last season. The 34-year-old has maintained a relationship with the team, and traveled with the Knicks often last season.

“My whole thing is to get in the best shape of my life and by September or October be ready to showcase my talent and try out for whoever I need to try out for,” he said. “I think the most important thing is being in shape.”
