Yankees to honor Mo with commemorative cap Sunday

As part of ceremonies Sunday to honor Mariano Rivera, the Yankees will wear a commemorative patch depicting the legendary closer on the side of their caps.

It is the first time an active player will be honored with a patch, which are common for special events or deceased baseball figures. This one shows baseball’s last No. 42, from behind, jogging out of the bullpen. The special hats are just one element of the Yankees’ planned celebration of Rivera, who will retire at the end of the season.

Sunday’s Yankees-Giants game in The Bronx is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
