Thug who beat up 1010 WINS anchor lands 5 years in jail

The homeless thug who brutally beat 1010 Wins anchor Brian Carey over a botched pizza order was sentenced Monday to five years in prison.

Elton Anthony, 49 — who had admitted in Manhattan Supreme Court that he savagely attacked the newsman in September — also received five years post-release supervision.

In addition, Judge Laura Ward issued an order of protection good until 2026 barring Anthony from contacting Carey, with whom he formed a friendship after Carey asked him to do a few odd jobs around his apartment a few years back.

“I almost died on that night in December,” said Carey in a written statement read by prosecutors Monday.

Carey, who was not in court, also said he hoped Anthony would “get treatment for anger management.”

Carey suffered a broken jaw and fractured eye socket in the beating.

Anthony had brought a pizza that Carey ordered up to Carey’s apartment that night. Carey griped that he had wanted extra mozzarella added to the pie after it emerged from the oven but that staffers tossed on the cheese beforehand.

Wanting to please his friend, an irate Anthony called up the eatery and demanded that the order be corrected and even put the restaurant manager on the phone with the mortified newsman.

“[Carey] wanted to know why I had made such a big deal about the pizza cheese, and I got mad because [Carey] cared more about me embarrassing him than getting the order right,” Anthony told cops after his arrest.
