A squirrel, a Tiger and a ski bunny. Just another day at the golf course.
The furry star of Day 1 of golf’s Presidents Cup on Thursday was a stray baby squirrel nicknamed Sammy who became the mascot of the U.S. team. The squirrel was scooped up on the second hole by U.S. assistant captain Davis Love III, and spent the rest of the day riding around in a cart and hobnobbing with the team.
The best little acorn of the day came when Tiger Woods’ ski-star girlfriend Lindsey Vonn playfully deposited the happy critter on Woods’ shoulder.
Sammy was good luck, too: Â The Americans took an early lead on Team Europe in the competition at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.
