‘Glee’ readies tearful Monteith tribute

The cast and crew of “Glee” will say goodbye to former cast member Cory Monteith in an episode titled “The Quarterback” on October 10.

Fox’s musical dramedy will pay tribute to the actor, who played the initially reluctant glee club member Finn, in the third episode of its fifth season. Monteith, who was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room this summer, had been a member of the show’s cast since it premiered in 2009.

In “The Quarterback, Finn’s friends learn and react to news of of his death. One of the song’s featured in the episode will be Lea Michelle’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.”

“I locked [the episode] today. It was incredibly difficult to work on. It was very difficult to shoot,” series creator Ryan Murphy told reporters on Thursday.

Monteith died on July 13 at the age of 31 of an accidental overdose of alcohol and heroin.
