MSG reporter gives lowdown on stylish hoopers

Jill Martin, the MSG Network’s celebrity Knicks reporter, came out with her third fashion book this past summer — “Weekend Makeover.’’ Martin, who also is the fashion correspondent for “The Today Show,” recently returned from hosting Dwyane Wade’s fashion event in Miami called “Runwade.” According to Martin, the Miami star dazzled in a sequin blazer with gold shoes.

But enough about the Heat. Martin said the Knicks are chock full of fashion plates and gave her scouting report on the Knicks for The Rumble.

ALWAYS FASHIONABLE: Carmelo Anthony. Whether pregame or postgame, he always is dressed to a tee. Even casual, Melo gets it right. He loves to play with prints and colors. His watch collection is a killer – 50-plus timepieces.

TRENDIEST KNICK: Amar’e Stoudemire. From New York to Paris, you’ll find Amar’e front row at Fashion Week. Skinny ties, slim dress pants, fitted jeans, he always is trying new looks and coming up with new ways to wear things.

EDGIEST: J.R. Smith: You’ll almost always see him in black with a pop of personality. He is a hat fanatic — 100 in his closet — with a red Devils ballcap his favorite.

MOST CLASSIC: Raymond Felton. He mostly wears neutrals but makes sure to make his outfit pop with a fun accessory.

GUY WHO CAN PULL OFF ANYTHING: Tyson Chandler. He was one of GQ’S 25 most stylish men in 2012. He looks like he could be at a photo shoot every time you see him — capris, hats, even capes. He makes anything look cool, similar to Clyde Frazier.

BEST ACCESORIZED: Iman Shumpert. Check out his shoes, bowties and backpacks. Always unique with personality and flair.

MOST POTENTIAL NEW KNICK: I have a pair. Andrea Bargnani is not from fashion capital Milan, but Rome. Still, he has delved into the fashion world in the past. Now that’s he’s in New York, I expect him to step up his game. After all, he’s from Italy. Meanwhile, rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. is on my radar. His dad always had skills. He’s also from my alma-mater Michigan, so he has good taste. Hardaway Jr. will be on the cover of GQ in no time.

Meanwhile, Martin and MSG Network’s co-hort Tina Cervasio will be at Clyde’s Monday night to host a MNF party.

Yonkers walk to fight diabetes

Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway Vice President and COO Bob Galterio’s daughter Cara was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 9, and the longtime sports executive immediately was compelled to take action to fight the disease.

So, “Cure for Cara” was born. That was 13 years ago. Sunday, more than 2,500 Empire City employees, volunteers and participants will gather at the Yonkers Raceway to take action in the Walk to Cure Diabetes for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Galterio will serve as captain of the “Cure for Cara” team.

More than 2,500 walkers representing local corporations, families, schools and other organizations are expected to participate in the Westchester County Chapter of the JDRF annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. Registration opens at 9 a.m. The walk starts at 10 a.m. The fundraising goal for the chapter is to realize nearly $650,000 for research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.

“The recent statistics are staggering and reveal that health care expenditures surrounding diabetes cost our nation more than $174 billion,” Galterio said. “These are the reasons we are committed to raising money for the cutting-edge research that JDRF funds. By working together, we can make a difference.”

To register and participate, sponsor the event, build a Walk team, or for more information, visit http://www.walk.jdrf.org or call the JDRF Westchester County Chapter at (914) 686-7700.

Torre discusses Girardi decision

Joe Torre was asked his thoughts on whether Joe Girardi’s would be interested in the Cubs managerial job on Chris Russo’s “Mad Dog’s Legends of Baseball” on Wednesday on Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

“Well, I know one thing, there are a handful of franchises that really get your attention, and certainly the Cubs are one of them,” Torre said. “I know they haven’t won in forever but the fact that it is his hometown I’m sure would be tempting. I haven’t talked to him about it.

“You get one shot — unless you are Billy Martin — you get one shot at managing the New York Yankees. You talk about getting attention, it doesn’t matter what part of the world you are in, you see a Yankee cap on people. If he is torn, and as I say I haven’t talked to him, but if he is torn it is certainly not going to be a slam-dunk decision because the Yankees are very tough to walk away from, take my word for it.”
