Red Bulls ink defender Sekagya

The Red Bulls addressed their shorthanded back line by inking defender Ibrahim Sekagya. Sekagya will be added to New York’s roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.

“We are delighted to sign Ibrahim and we are sure his experience will strengthen our options in defense,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. “He was well respected and liked by our colleagues at Red Bull Salzburg and we are confident he can play a role in our team as we enter into the second half of our regular season.”

The Red Bulls have been left short handed after former all star defender Heath Pearce opted for season ending surgery. Sekagya addresses that issue.

Featuring mainly as a center back, Sekagya was with Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Bundesliga from 2007 to the conclusion of the club’s most recent campaign, featuring in a total of 165 games and scoring six goals. Sekagya was part of the Red Bull Salzburg squad that won the Austrian Bundesliga title three times
