Tribeca Neighbors: Downtown Design

Annie Block, deputy editor of Interior Design magazine and planning-committee member of both OHNY (openhousenewyork) and the Design Trust for Public Space provides an inside look at three recently redesigned Tribeca apartments, ranging in style from mininalist to super-funky. Holiday House Hamptons

Twenty-two top interior designers and architects will be participating in the first-ever Holiday House Hamptons this summer with HC&G (Hamptons Cottages and Gardens), transforming a newly constructed luxury residence in Bridgehampton into a showcase of the best in interior design. See exquisite interiors by the likes of Richard Mishaan Design, Susan Glick Interiors and Thom Filicia, while at the same time raising funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Bay Ridge Walking Tour

Bay Ridge is at once a quintessential Brooklyn neighborhood and full of surprises in its architecture and heritage. Amid streetscapes dominated by views of the Verazzano Narrows Bridge, see the spectacular mansions and historic sights of this onetime summer resort. At the water’s edge, visit a botanic garden, a monument-filled park and a long pier with views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline. The tour is approximately two hours long. 11 am. $28. Hudson Yards Speaker Series

Elizabeth Diller, Principal at Diller Scofidio + Renfro will join David Rockwell, President of the Rockwell Group, in a conversation moderated by Julie Iovine, architecture columnist at the Wall Street Journal. They will discuss the conceptual and technical development of the new 72-story residential Tower at Hudson Yards, including the evolution of the tower’s design and the relationship of the project to the larger development. 6 pm. Fire Island Modernist: Horace Gifford and the Architecture of Seduction

Author Christopher Rawlins will present a talk based upon his newly released book “Fire Island Modernist,” the first book to highlight the seaside houses designed by Horace Gifford, a largely forgotten architect.
