College hoops recruiting notebook: NJ’s Reed picks Miami

Miami impressed Davon Reed on his official visit.

How much? The talented New Jersey wing picked the ACC school Friday night, at the start of the visit, Scout.com reported.

A standout 6-foot-5 wings who attends Princeton Day Academy, Reed chose the Hurricanes over Wake Forest, Xavier and a host of others. He ranked 24th in his class among shooting guards by Scout.

“He said they’re bringing in five or six freshmen in this class,” Reed’s Team Final AAU coach, Rob Brown, told Scout.com. “He wants to get out there and help them recruit.”

“He has a pretty diverse game,” the coach added. “He plays hard and plays a couple of positions. He’s long and athletic. He still has some maturing to do physically. He’ll grow into his body. I love his upside.”
