Net Zero Residences for the 88-99 Percent 

Net Zero homes are achievable now and can be done in a range of square footage costs from the very posh to the affordable. Three architects with experience designing, building and monitoring Net Zero homes will discuss their experiences working to achieve the Net Zero goals. These architects will explain the use of a broad range of design techniques, including common sense, passive siting, overhangs, efficient system design, predictive modeling and more. $10. Brooklyn Real Estate Roundtable

This is the first event of its 2012 quarterly luncheon series. The line-up of speakers and topics to be discussed include Joshua Muss, Principal at Muss Development, will discuss the transformation of 345 Adams and the future of retail in Downtown Brooklyn; Michael Pintchik, President of Pintchik, will describe plans to develop Flatbush Avenue and the revival of this area; Bob Sanna, Executive VP at Forest City Ratner Companies, will describe the development and construction of Barclays Center. Sustainable Landscape Trends

Patricia Olmstead, Founder and Principal of Urban Explorations Inc., will give a presentation on Sustainable Landscape Trends. During this presentation, she will touch upon many aspects of sustainability in the traditional landscape and delve into solutions and local examples highlighting innovations of old concepts. She will also discuss the use of native plants, green roofs, cool roofs, garden facades, vertical gardening, green and living walls. 6:30 – 8 pm. $5. Orchid Dinner

Veranda magazine and the New York Botanical Garden invited more than 20 leading designers from the worlds of fashion, architecture, design, and horticulture to create orchid centerpieces for the annual Orchid Dinner. Designers include Alessandra Branca, Angelica Gomes for Angelica Flowers and Events, Campion Platt, David Duncan, David Easton, Juan Montoya, Richard Mishaan, Robert Marinelli, Stephen Elrod for Brunschwig & Fils and Tiffany & Co. by Richard Lambertson with David M.
