Via Verde: A Green Design Seminar & Tour
This is the first tour of Via Verde, a new sustainable-design, mixed-income housing development in the South Bronx that broke ground last year and is scheduled for completion in early 2012. The two-part event will first feature a seminar on Solar PV; the solar panel installation at Via Verde is integrated into six tiered south-facing walls and suspended above resident-accessible trellises on multiple roofs. The seminar is followed by a tour, which starts on the 20th floor of the tower, goes down through the midrise and townhouses, and ends in the courtyard. There will also be a visit to its indoor and outdoor public spaces, including the community room, fitness room and the green roofs. 3-5:30 pm. $10. 700 Brook Ave., The Bronx.
