Cardinal Hayes’ Sidibe picks Fairfield

The city’s best big man in the Class of 2012 is off the board.

Amadou Sidibe, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Cardinal Hayes, verbally committed to head coach Sydney Johnson and Fairfield on Monday night, sources told The Post.

Sidibe held offers from Hofstra, Fordham, Iona, Boston University, Drexel, Siena, St. Peter’s and others. But he was sold, a source said, after taking an official visit to the MAAC school over the weekend.

Sidibe actually committed to Fordham during his sophomore year, but de-committed when former Rams assistant Jared Grasso (now at Iona) wasn’t hired as head coach. He’s helped lead the Cardinals to the CHSAA Class A finals each of the last two years.
