Nintendo 3DS enters the matchmaking game

Assuming the concept of meeting new people – in the flesh – doesn’t immediately result in a wild case of hives and that you’re a Nintendo 3DS owner, chances are you’ve probably tried (or wanted to try) out the handheld console’s built-in StreetPass feature, which scans for nearby 3DS users and connects with them to share content like Miis, game stats, data etc.

Now, Nintendo has created a Meetup Everywhere community to make StreetPassing even easier.

The idea behind the Nintendo 3DS Meetup Everywhere community is for organizations to use the online platform to coordinate local meetups between fans and followers, so that folks can meet face-to-face and share their mutual interests throughout the year. It should be noted (as the press release does) that Nintendo doesn’t sponsor or endorse these meetups.

To mark the launch of the Meetup Everywhere community, Nintendo is designating June 25 as Nintendo 3DS StreetPass Day. For more info, and to find out when meetups are being held near you, check out the Meetup site.
