T.O. to Cincy, Welker to PUP

Many owners likely tweaked their fantasy draft boards today when hearing news Terrell Owens is headed to the Bengals and that Patriots WR Wes Welker was placed on the physically unable to perform list.

But there’s no reason to do heavy revisions. Neither move should dramatically effect their potential production.

Welker still is a strong pick in round 5-7. All reports seem to suggest he could play in Week 1. The PUP list move, it seems, was done more for roster flexibility than health concerns. Once the top WRs on your draft board include players like Dewayne Bowe, Donald Driver, etc., don’t be afraid to reach for Welker a round early.

T.O. has been slipping to the 120s, and sometimes beyond. This was before he had a team. Expect his draft status to rise, likely into the top 100. But his value remains about the same. He is no better than a bye-week fill-in or emergency starter. The Bengals don’t throw the ball well. Chad Ochocinco has been playing with QB Carson Palmer for years, so they have a chemistry impossible for T.O. to rival. And free-agent signee Antonio Bryant may be the best of the bunch at this point in his career. And don’t forget about draft pick Jordan Shipley.

Let someone else snag T.O.
