Conservancy gala raises $250K for Brooklyn Bridge Park events

More than 1,000 people attended the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s 11th annual “Sunset Swing” fundraiser last night, raising $250,000 to support the nonprofit organization and its free public programming at the waterfront greenspace.

The newly-opened Pier 1 section of the park in Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO was transformed to resemble a swinging 1930s hotspot with music and swing dancing — and obviously include the park’s spectacular views of lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and New York Harbor.

This year’s gala was followed by a special “after-party,” hosted by the Conservancy’s Junior Committee. An additional 200 guests extended the evening’s entertainment at Galapagos in DUMBO, raising $6,000 for the organization.
