Master classes at Primary Stages

The Primary Stages School of Theater has some fun-looking master classes and workshops this spring, and they’re open to the public (a very reasonable $5 donation is requested). This coming weekend is going to be particularly busy. On Saturday 20, Joanna Gleason continues her workshop on “Acting the song” from 11am to 2pm. Gleason’s appeared in “Into the Woods” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” among many other shows, and she knows her way around a tune. The fourth and last installment in the series is on April 24. If you actually want to sign up for those workshops, note that “each student needs to have memorized two ballads from musical theater or old standards. No jazz, no rock.” Got it?

On Sunday 21 from 11am to 12:30pm, Judith Light teaches a master class in acting, and Judith Ivey (whom I’m seeing tonight in “The Glass Menagerie”) is doing it on April 13. Playwright Craig Lucas gets behind the lectern on April 19.
