Ronde says don’t count out Tiki: report

If I can do it, so can my twin brother.

That was the take of Ronde Barber on Tiki Barber’s comeback.

“I wouldn’t put anything past the guy,” Ronde, a Buccaneers cornerback, told Tampa Bay Online. “He’s sitting around with a lot of nothing to do at the moment. Tiki’s got the same drive that I do and he’s missed football for sure … especially the last couple of years. If nothing materializes, nothing materializes.”

There’s a chance something could materialize with Tampa Bay. Bucs coach Raheem Morris reiterated that the team will consider Tiki, a running back who announced last week he would attempt a comeback after four years out of the sport.

“You can’t close the door,” Morris told the website. “Anybody that can help your team, you want to look into it. Obviously, that’s not the direction we’re heading right now — we’re about youth and building through the draft. Me and (GM) Mark Dominik will have those discussions shortly, whenever free agency opens, but Tiki is definitely an impact player.

“Right now, we have a player that looks like him, plays like him, talks like him, walks like him and has had a lot of success with us. Ronde’s an amazing player. Right now, he’s ageless. We all know it’ll catch up with him eventually, but until that day happens, we’re going to continue to enjoy Ronde Barber.”

Tiki, 36 in April, retired after the 2006 season with the Giants after rushing for 1,662 yards to pursue a career in television. The Giants retain his rights but have said they will let him go when a new NFL collective bargaining agreement is reached.

The Buccaneers have LeGarrette Blount, Kareem Huggins, Earnest Graham and Kregg Lumpkin at running back. Carnell Williams is a free agent.

The Post reported last week the Steelers also may consider Tiki, and SI.com said Monday the Jets could have an interest.
