California Pizza Kitchen loses buyer in American Securities Capital

Talks between California Pizza Kitchen and a potential buyer are cooked, The Post has learned.

Private-equity firm American Securities Capital had been in exclusive talks to buy the restaurant chain but those have broken down — and the likelihood of the two sides reaching a deal is unlikely, according to a source close to the process.

It’s not clear if CPK is now in discussions with any other suitors in its four months-long attempt to find a buyer.

Remigio, the owner of the casual dining chain Italianni’s, filed a lawsuit this week in Los Angeles against CPK, claiming it has been interfering with its contract to open restaurants in Mexico.

CPK shares fell 1.5 percent Tuesday to $17.64 per share.

A CPK spokesperson declined comment.
