K-Rod, Putz back on mound

From the AP

PORT ST. LUCIE — Francisco Rodriguez and setup man J.J. Putz today saw their first game action since returning from the World Baseball Classic. Each tossed a scoreless inning in a minor league game. K-Rod, who started the game, needed 10 pitches — seven strikes — in his perfect inning.

Putz also didn’t allow anyone to reach base in an inning. He is scheduled to throw again tomorrow — his first back-to-back outing of the spring. He will then take two days off before pitching a two-inning stint on Sunday.

Rodriguez is scheduled to pitch Friday against the Nationals and will follow the same course set out for Putz with back-to-back outings followed by two days off and a two-inning stint.

Johan Santana is scheduled to start Friday night’s game against the Nationals in Port St. Lucie.
