WBC is Great for Fans

For the fans here in San Juan, there is no better experience than the WBC. In the spring, this is the place to be.The weather is warmer than Florida, there are more real Mets here than in Port St. Lucie and the game atmosphere is a blast.

All that’s missing is A-Rod.

The salsa music set the stage at Hiram Bithorn Stadium this morning. It’s an all-day party for the fans, similar to an All-Star Game or, on a much smaller scale, the Super Bowl because there are party tents. This is an island event. The sun was shining, the flags were waiving and the city was talking WBC and Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran.

Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic will survive this round and the next round in Miami will be a monster with only two teams surviving and moving onto LA. It all depends on the pitching but USA and either Puerto Rico or Dominica will advance in that second round.

One pitcher that is interesting to watch is Giancarlo Alvarado for Puerto Rico.

The media hotel is the Condado Plaza and the workers at the hotel have gone out of their way to help you out, especially Fernando at the front desk.

More later, Team Dominica is on the field, time to get some work done.
