Knicks lineup may be changed

In the wake of Sunday’s humiliating 120-89 loss to San Antonio, the Knicks could end up seeing a different starting lineup Wednesday in Atlanta.

When coach Mike Woodson was asked Monday whether he would change his lineup, he paused for several seconds before answering, “I don’t know yet.’’

One change he could make would be switching Metta World Peace for Iman Shumpert. World Peace, Pablo Prigioni and Amar’e Stoudemire all sat out practice with recovery days.

Carmelo Anthony said he wasn’t privy to any potential lineup change.

“No, he don’t talk to us about that,” Anthony said of Woodson. “When he makes that decision, Coach, he’ll let us know. That’s not something he keeps us in the loop on in that process.’’

The Knicks allowed 17 layups and watched the Spurs’ Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard drive at will. Without injured center Tyson Chandler’s shot-blocking, it’s a serious concern over the next few weeks.

“That’s any game plan when you don’t see a shot blocker in the paint,” Anthony said. “I know my eyes get big when I don’t see a shot blocker in the paint, so I guess that was the case.

“That was their game plan to attack us when we didn’t have any shot blockers in there, anybody to change the dynamic of the game. I know [Spurs coach Gregg Popovich], and that was his game plan.”

When reminded they may not have Chandler for three more weeks, Anthony said jokingly, “I guess I’ve got to do more shot-blocking. I guess I’ve got to be the center.”

But Woodson wasn’t in a joking mood, and pointed more to a lack of individual effort.

“I mean, wasn’t nothing pretty about our game yesterday,’’ Woodson said. “After watching it on tape and showing our team, you give up 17 layups: That doesn’t have anything to do with somebody being at the rim. That is just individual defense, on the ball, where we had a lot of breakdowns as of late.

“I thought we somewhat corrected it in the Charlotte game in terms of not giving as many layups and then we come back last night and give up 17 layups, and you are not going to beat anybody doing that. That’s something we got to learn from and we got to get better in that area in terms of individual defense on the ball.’’
