Lawrence Frank playing with fire

it, per se _ and to be fair, the Nets stunk against Boston, down 18-2 and trailing by 29 at halftime. Let’s just say the brass hopes Frank knows what he’s doing.

He can ill afford to lose Harris, who is averaging 22.3 points and 6.4 assists. So, how will the face of the franchise respond to this kind of prodding?

“That’s the question. I don’t know. It’s never happened to me before,” Harris said. “Remains to be seen. Obviously you try and turn into a positive and whatnot. They’re demanding more effort and trying to set the tone and whatnot. We’ve got to do better. It remains to be seen. I don’t think it will have a negative effect. It’s a lot of what we talked about today in our meeting.”

So, what exactly does REMAINS TO BE SEEN mean?

“I don’t know. It’s never happened. I can’t say it’s going to be a negative thing or positive thing the way I react to the coach,” Harris said. “I don’t think it will be a problem. We’ll see what happens.”

For his part, Frank said he wasn’t sweating the ramifications.

“When you’re making the move, you’re not thinking about two days later. I said what I said. You’re doing it because you felt it was the right move to make,” said Frank, who said he chose them because they’re the leaders of the team. “As a leader, sometimes shouldering a load that’s not fair…..there’s an extra burden there to show the rest of the guys. Sometimes you’re a model for how to take the good with the bad.

“(I chose them) for obvious reasons. One, I didn’t have those guys ready to run. And then the responsibility for a lot of this falls on my shoulders and our main guys.”
