ALDS GAME 1 THOUGHTS (PART 3)

1. Here is an amazing fact for you guys because, well, I care: In his whole career, C.C. Sabathia had only given up two homers to lefty hitters in one game at Jacobs Field one other time before doing it in the first four innings of this game to Johnny Damon and Robinson Cano. The previous time was May 26, 2004 by Seattle’s Raul Ibanez and Ichiro Suzuki.

2. Chien-Ming Wang simply has not been able to put hitters away. Nine Indians reached base in the first three innings and Wang was ahead or even in the count at some point on every one of them. He was, for example, ahead of Asdrubal Cabrera 0-2 leading off the third, threw two balls and then permitted a homer.

3. Joe Torre has a real serious problem should this series reach four games. He has not fully committed to Mike Mussina for that start. Off of this poor start by Wang does Torre risk bringing him back on short rest, believing in his superiority at home? Or does he risk throwing Mussina, especially if it is a must-win game of the Yankees.
