We posted the first seven rounds of a “mock” draft last week. we call it “mock” because it actually isn’t a mock, it’s a real e-mail draft in one of my leagues. As of last week, we were still drafting. We finished up over the weekend.
When we last saw our fantasy heroes, the Kill Barney Campaign has forged a trade pick trade with Who Wants It!. We gave up our sixth- and seventh-round picks to get a fifth-rounder which we used to grab Donovan McNabb. Who wants It! was able to add Chris Cooley and Vince Young with our former picks. Kill Barney also has an extra pick in the 10th round as a result of the deal.
And here are the last eight rounds of our mock mock draft:
ROUND 8
8.1. Team Wiggum – Mario Barber, Rb, Dal
Comments: A solid fourth RB to go with Willie Parker, Thomas Jones and Marshawn Lynch.
8.2. RedNeck Yankees – Tony Romo, QB, Dal
Comments: Not bad value for a need pick. First QB Yanks have taken.
8.3. Meatballs – Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pit
Comments: Already has Drew Brees. But no backup RB yet, no back WR, already strayed too early for DEF. This team is misguided.
8.4. Missouri Sho MEs – Calvin Johnson, WR, Det
Comments: Didn’t get first WR until sixth round (Hines Ward), but grabbed Donte Stallworth in seventh and follows up with solid pick here. Still weak at WR, but at least there’s hope.
8.5. fastgator – Patriots
Comments:After reaching for Marc Bulger at least two rouonds too early in the second round, this team hasn’t made bad pick since. Not a fan of taking DEF this early, but considering the mediicrity available at other spots, we can’t knock this pick.
8.6. Steel Crazies – Chester Taylor, RB, Min
Comments: Didn’t take first RB until fourth round (Edgerrin James). followed that up with deadbeat Jamal Lewis in fifth. And despite gaping weakness at RB, went for a kicker – kicker! – in the seventh – seventh – round. So Taylor was a need pick. But they need much more than Chester.
8.7. RFD Illini 2 – Santana Moss, WR, Was
Comments: Bit of a surprise here considering this team still doesn’t have a QB. But good value this late.
8.8. Who Wants It! – Deion Branch, WR, Sea
Comments: Solid backup behind Lee Evans and Darrell Jackson.
8.9. Kill Barney Campaign – Todd Heap, TE, Bal
Comments: Though about going backup WR, but didn’t like the options.
8.10. Minotaurs – Kellen winslow, TE, Browns
Comments: Added another solid piece to strong team. Can knock the Ahman Green pick in fourth round and think they jumped the gun with the Bears DEF in the sixth, but still a strong roster (LaDainian Tomlinson, Carson Palmer, Terrell Owens, Andre Johnson, Carnell Williams).

Comments: Still didn’t care for available WRs or RBs. Saw that Chargers were last of top tier DEFs.

Comments: One of the last RB available who is likely to be designated starter for his team.

Comments: Just the backup we want all along. Love his upside. So at the end of the day, our deal ended up like this: We got Donovan McNabb and Tatum Bell. Who Wants It! got Chris Cooley and Vince Young. We likely would have taken a QB with our sixth or seventh, so it’s almost like we only gave up one pick. Final ruling: Deal worked out for both parties.
