Rehab start number four for Pedro Martinez will be Monday, and it will again be for St. Lucie in A-ball. Omar Minaya just announced this, basically saying that the Mets view the minor league level as unimportant and that it’s “not totally necessary” for Pedro to pitch above A-ball before returning to the Mets. Minaya also said Pedro will probably throw between 80-90 pitches in this start and is on a “start to start” basis as far as how many more rehab outings he’ll need.
The prediction, though, is that Pedro gets a fifth rehab start after this.
Pedro’s last start was on Monday, also for St. Lucie.
