Jets Kick Kendall to Washington

By Lenn Robbins

August 23, 2007 — One year after coming to the Jets and emerging as the undisputed leader of a young offensive line, Pete Kendall was shipped to the Washington Redskins today for a 2009 conditional draft pick.

Sources told The Post that Kendall will get the salary bump he wanted but was not able to get from the Jets, which caused an irreparable rift between the veteran and the squad.

The Redskins, who had a glaring hole at left guard, will pay the soon-to-be 34-year-old $2.7 million. Kendall was to get $1.7 from Gang Green and had engaged in a loud and public squabble with the team.

“We are really comfortable with the trade and the value that we got in the trade,” said Jets coach Eric Mangini who would not comment on what the Redskins gave up.
