Capcom Vs. The AIAS

Gamespot has an interesting news story up about some of Capcom’s games being left out of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ Annual Interactive Achievement Awards official nominations.

“This year, when the nominations for the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards were announced, two titles that gamers noticed were missing were a critically-lauded pair from Capcom–Okami and Dead Rising. Like RE4 in 2005, these games were widely recognized by the gaming press in their Best of 2006 awards–Okami in particular.”

Capcom contends that to be nominated, a company has to pay to be an AIAS member, while the AIAS’ prez says memberships and money are not factored in to the process. Sounds a little fishy.
