Cat says bye to Jamie and Rayven

The judges are back on the scene tonight, with Mia Michaels as the super special guest judge. I always suspected that Mary Murphy made her own clothes, but now it appears that she has added jewelry-making to her list of non-ballroom hobbies. Otherwise there’s just no reasonable explanation for her. Mia Michaels’ bleached blonde hair is a good look, and Pervy Spice is pervy as ever. Let’s get started. Thayne and Chelsea T. – Jazz

One of my favorite couples was up first – Chelsea T. and Thayne. Apparently representatives from the Village Halloween parade are in charge of costuming, but in theory they are supposed to be a king and his forbidden love/court jester/wench. The choreography by Mandy Moore is so disjointed. I love these two, but this dance is janky. And what is with the vomit-comet camera work? The judges are bummed and say there was no connection between the two and all agree that this dance was bizarre. Cackle Puss moves them to the caboose of the Hot Tamale Train, but at least they’re still riding it. And not in the hobo car with Kourtni.

Chelsie and Mark – Argentine Tango

Chelsie and Mark, Americker’s odd couple, are appropriately dressed and ready to do the Argentine Tango. Mark makes good tango face. Chelsie is definitely pretty and sauced it up well enough, although I just don’t really buy her as a tango tart. The judges love it, but Pervy Spice says they could have sleazed it up a bit more, you know, Argentine-style. Oh Pervy Spice. Anyway, I think Chelsie and Mark will stay out of the bottom three couples this week.

Will & Jessica – Hip-Hop

Ooooh, honey. It’s very obvious that Will is this year’s Danny Tidwell – the well-credentialed, highly trained dancer who might as well be driving the Hot Tamale Train to the finals… unless his partner Jessica Rabbit drags him down and he, I don’t know, does something inappropriate (i.e., Argentinian, perhaps, if you’re Pervy Spice) in his solo dance – however entertaining that might be for us. Jessica Rabbit and Will bust out with some hip-hop with some chair props, which is eh. The routine is alright, but the judges are right in that Jessica Rabbit just isn’t captivating like Will can be. Mia calls Will a genius. I will say one thing about Jessica Rabbit – she is really good at smiling nicely while the judges talk about how lackluster she is and what a pillar of dance her partner is. It’s unsettling, really.

This is abrupt, I admit, but I think I’m over this episode. I’m really upset about it, and I’m starting to doubt my faith in the Church of Cat Deeley, and I’m glaring at Cackle Puss and considering leaping from the Hot Tamale Train. I might – might – go back to my DVR and watch the rest of this episode tonight before the elimination show so at least I can be objective about it. So perhaps I’ll have more to say later on, but I’m just so disappointed. Anyone else feel the same? Let’s share our feelings, hug it out. Help me help, well, me.
