HERE IN FLORIDA LIFE IS WARM

As you slug your way to work today in the freezing Northeast, let me tell you, it’s going up to 76 degrees today in Tampa.

Right now the sky is Dodger Blue. The sun is warm and the palm trees never looked so green.

It’s so good to be out of the cold. This perfect weather will not last, temperatures will drop and thunderstorms are coming later in the week, but even that is so much better than the dark, cold February days back home.

Spring training is about to start. Go to the minor league complex now … …and many Yankees are already working out on a daily basis. Baseball is what they love and what they do and despite the ridiculous sense of entitlement most players have these days; deep down they realize they are lucky to be playing this game to make the living they make.

Sometimes you lose in baseball, but each day the work is fun.

And now as I get ready to head out on my barnstorming tour of the Grapefruit League, I will make this your tour, too.

You may be stuck in an office, the temperature is ridiculous but let yourself relax a bit and feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you read Where’s Kernan? over the next month or so. And there are many days I will post multiple times, so be ready to turn here for your updates.

Spring training begins today. It’s not just pitchers and catchers that get here early, anymore. The sights and sounds of Florida will come your way here too. I passed a sign yesterday that advertised Gator Jerky, but after driving two more hours after putting on over 5,000 miles in an RV, I wasn’t stopping until I got to my destination.

Next time I see the sign I will stop and buy and let you know. I ate raccoon last week at SuperGate08 so how bad can it be.

I’ve gone down from an El Monte RV to a Ford Focus, taking the smaller car saves the boss $7 more a day than midsize, but I do have a sunroof.

Gotta have a sun roof in Florida. Don’t you agree?
