Who returned diamond ring? Airport group wants to know

An airport advocacy group is trying to track down a mystery good Samaritan who helped return a 4-carat diamond ring to a woman who lost it at Newark Airport on Valentine’s Day — so they can give him a free flight as a reward.

Navneet Guleria, 52, of Pennington, NJ, accidentally dropped the ring while she was being screened at the airport for a flight to London with her husband. The ring was a gift from their 25th wedding anniversary three years before.

Another flyer found the diamond ring but instead of pocketing it, gave it to Transportation Security Administration Officer Meredith Grillos.

Grillos then gave it to her supervisor, and it was taken to the TSA’s lost and found.

Guleria called the TSA when she reached London, and the ring was mailed safely to her home.

“I was amazed by the honesty,” Guleria told the Post. “It’s unheard of.”

The Global Gateway Alliance is launching a digital and social-media campaign to find the person who found the ring to give him a round-trip flight voucher from United Airways.

Tipsters can e-mail ring@globalgatewayalliance.org and include proof of travel date and time.

“While all of us wait in long lines, struggle with security protocols and hear horror stories of thefts by airport workers, it’s important to know that our fellow travelers have our backs and TSA agents work hard for passengers,” said Alliance Chairman Joseph Sitt.

The Alliance will also coordinate with the TSA to verify it’s the right person using security footage.

If no one steps forward by May 31, the voucher will be donated to a charity.
