Ed Reed’s car robbed of $50k he left on front seat

Ed Reed is one of the most larcenous players in NFL history, with 64 interceptions during his 11-year career. The heist was on him this time, though, as the former Ravens, Texans and Jets safety reportedly had $50,000 in cash stolen from his car, according to the Houston Police Department and Click2Houston.com.

Anyone in his right mind, upon hearing of this theft, would certainly wonder why in the world anyone would have so much cash in his car. Apparently someone smashed the window of Reed’s car and got away with a bag containing the $50,000, which was just sitting there on the front seat. Not exactly toll money sitting in the little plastic dashboard holder.

It was not immediately known if the bag full of money had a great big dollar sign on it as it always did in the Bugs Bunny cartoons.

According to the police report, Reed likely was targeted by the robbers as he went to the bank to make the withdrawal and left the cash in the car as he “stopped off at the Bank of America in the 12000 block of Westheimer near the Westpark Tollway.’’

Reed, 35, is a nine-time Pro Bowl selection who has said he wants to continue to play and return to the Jets, though that is unlikely to happen even though Rex Ryan — a big fan of Reed’s — was retained as head coach. Reed played seven games for the Jets in 2013 and had three interceptions.
