Andy barely beats Chris – in NY!

ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo would beat New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie by mere single digits among New York state voters in a 2016 presidential matchup, a new poll says.

The Quinnipiac University survey of state voters, released yesterday, shows Cuomo besting Christie (left) by a narrow 46-38 percent.

But the poll also finds that Christie would beat Cuomo in upstate, 41-35, and in the suburbs around New York City, 49-39.

Democrat Cuomo’s only advantage is in the city, where he would win 61-27, that powers him to a statewide win over Christie.

Cuomo’s job approval rating is now 55-27 — down from 74-13 on Dec. 12.

What’s more, for the first time since he was elected, Cuomo has lost the approval of a majority of Republicans. The poll found 38 percent of GOP voters approve of the job he’s doing, compared with 49 percent who do not.

“Andrew Cuomo has talked big, delivered little, and favored his own ambitions over spending his political capital on what’s good for New York,” said state Republican Chairman Ed Cox.
