Sterling’s wife likely to also be ousted from NBA

Both Sterlings may get bounced from the LA Clippers.

It’s not just disgraced Clippers owner Donald Sterling the NBA wants to oust as team owner — it’s also his estranged wife, Shelly, insiders told ESPN on Saturday.

Shelly Sterling, 79 — a co-owner of the team who has announced plans to keep it — was never formally approved by the league’s powerful board of governors, making it easy to boot her, according to sources tied to the NBA’s legal department.

Chances are slim that she would be approved now due to her close affiliation with her 80-year-old billionaire hubby, who was banned for life from the NBA after he was caught on a recording in a racist rant, the sources said.

The NBA’s legal department is confident Shelly Sterling won’t be team co-owner for long, the sources said.
