Keeping track of billable hours

If you often use lawyers or other service providers that bill you by the hour, you may often find yourself shocked by a large amount or unexpected problem on the invoice.

With Viewabill, you can eliminate these surprises by monitoring how much you’re being billed as your lawyer or service provider enters each amount. You can then deal with any issue or unexpected charge as you encounter it instead of weeks or months later when the invoice arrives.

Viewabill is designed to work with most cloud- and server-based billing software. Lawyers and other service providers can integrate Viewabill with cloud-based software in roughly 60 seconds. For server-based software, Viewabill provides a transmitter that the billing firm can install on its server, which takes about a half-hour. On the client side, users just need to set up a free account with Viewabill and invite their service providers to connect. Then clients can view billing data as it’s entered by the service provider.

Clients are able to see hours, task descriptions, rates and timekeepers. But service providers are also able to hide certain parts of the time entries from clients if they don’t want to share all of their raw data.

Clients don’t have to constantly monitor their service providers’ activity, but they can set alerts — such as a notice when billing activity passes a certain dollar amount. Viewabill also provides daily and weekly e-mail updates.
